My Work

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Clinical Supervisor, and Parenting Coach living in Portland, Oregon on the unceded territories of the Clackamas, Kalapuya and Cowlitz tribes.

I have been working in the field since 2012 with a commitment to social justice, anti-racism and anti-oppression in my practice of psychotherapy. I work with a deep commitment to relational ethics, awareness of power, and social justice in the field of counseling.

I feel passionately about providing the highest quality care that I can to LGBTQIA2S+ and gender oppressed youth, adolescents, teens and young adults, as well as supporting the parents of these communities. This work is sacred to me and I have the utmost respect for those I work with. These youth and their families deserve to be held with dedication, love and unwavering commitment.

I am a warm, collaborative, and engaged therapist, coach and supervisor. I am rigorous in my work. I reserve a significant amount of time researching and consulting outside of session in order to offer the highest quality of care and supervision that I am able. I’m glad to tell you more about me when we have our initial phone consultation.

My Background

After working as a community organizer with largely undocumented hotel and grocery store workers, I completed my Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology with a focus in Expressive Arts Therapy at California Institute of Integral Studies in 2014. My Master’s work focused on treatment of transgender youth and elders, war veterans, and immigrants.

Over the past ten years I have worked clinically with youth living at the intersections of multiple oppressions, youth with severe behavioral struggles, undocumented families, survivors, college students and people living with severe anxiety and depression. I have been involved in various advocacy and organizing efforts in the local community.

Location of Self

I am a white, mixed ethnicity, disabled, fat, genderqueer femme; a Jewish person whose ancestors are from the Middle East and Eastern and Southern Europe. I immigrated to the United States as an infant with my parents from Israel/ Palestine and am from a lineage of people shaped by war and colonization.

I spent most of my childhood in a suburb of Seattle, Washington, growing up among evergreen trees, eagles, and immigrants working in the tech boom economy of the nineties. I grew up with a privileged experience of immigration, as well as the financial resources needed to visit my relatives abroad, traveling often between the Pacific Northwest and the Middle East. Through this experience of movement back and forth between these very different cultures I have learned a lot about holding contradiction, cultural humility, the effects of colonization, survival and resilience.

In consultation or therapy together, you are welcome to ask me about any of the above, or other aspects of my identity not listed here. I will let you know if I am available to share more, and we will talk about it together in the service of our work.

My Work

As a Therapist I aim to support people to build a strong foundation of self-esteem, well-being, mutually supportive friendship and community. I seek to help lessen the burdens of depression, anxiety and other mental health struggles. I work with people to explore their identities and values, to transform internalized oppression and trauma, to feel connected to themselves and others, and to experience relief.

As a Parenting Coach I work with parents of LGBTQIA2S+ youth to offer non-judgemental support as parents process feelings about young people's identities and lifestyles, practice using correct pronouns, learn about medical transition and maintain positive relationships within their families. I support parents to help their young ones to be well, supported, and proud of who they are.

As a Clinical Supervisor I support new clinicians who work with youth, families, LGBTQIA2S+ communities, and across cultural lines to build a strong foundation in ethical, relational, and justice oriented clinical work. I am committed to and rigorous about the growth of the clinicians I work with. I am a good fit for you if you want to bring some vulnerability to your work, if you want to grow as a clinician, if you care very deeply about client well-being and ethics.

These days, I'm thinking about the impacts of the pandemic and of climate crisis on youth and families and how we will meet the social, economic, political and climate challenges we are facing, collectively.

I am fluent in English, Spanish and Hebrew.
